What is Zone Therapy?

Zone Therapy was brought to the U.S. in 1989 by Dr. Charles Ersdal, M.D. of Kristiansand, Norway.  Dr. Ersdal is the originator and developer of this particular technique of zone therapy.  He had over 25 years of personal research, using no medicines, remedies, or other therapies to understand the effect Zone Therapy had on the body.   He found that those who received consistent treatment experienced over a 95 % success rate.

Dr. Ersdal focused on the entirety, meaning working all the body systems on the feet together.  He knew that if one body system was out of balance another would be negatively affected.  Thus, he developed a treatment that is administered in a precise manner with directional patterns along zones that run the entire length of the body.  All body systems are represented in each zone and because the body contains its own innate healing intelligence the imbalances are found through discomfort. This discomfort signals the brain to make a correction in the autonomic nervous system and sends the necessary correction back to the tissue or organ for healing.    When the body has made significant change, the discomfort is no longer experienced and the person begins to see huge improvements with their health!

Much acclaim and appreciation is given to Dr. Ersdal and his research. His work was thorough and succinct, yet he used invasive pressure to force the signals to change.  Since his passing, students under his instruction have found that using medium pressure to “gently persuade” the signals to engage continues to help the body heal naturally and effectively.  With Family Foot Reflexology, giving a full zone of 30-40 minutes is still a must when feasible; however, working on specific points of the feet (reflexology) in a family setting facilitates convenience and simplicity.

The Family Foot Reflexology program incorporates zone therapy, but is unique as it links the discomfort found on the foot to an emotional issue.  Almost all physical ailments stem from an emotional, mental and spiritual imbalance.  The Family Foot Reflexology program trains mothers, families and practitioners to help guide the client through a process of recognizing the source of the imbalance, to release it and replace it with positive reframing.
